why are employees' personal information being stored in usermeta table?

  If I have thousands of employees then won’t it make it awfully slow trying to search by name, employee id etc? This can make running reports such as gender into problem.
  
  will it not make sense to keep essential personal information in a table such as erp_peoples and the rest in usermeta.

  Thanks for your suggestion. But in reality, we did check this with more than 5000 employees and the performance was just amazing! But if we face any issue in future, we will think about changing this structure.
